Genetically modified mosquitoes pass on deadly gene to native mosquitoes, study finds

In the Brazilian town of Jacobina, millions of genetically modified mosquitoes have been released over the past two years. They should help to get a grip on the mosquito problem. They were modified so that their offspring should not be viable. In fact, the experiment may have made the local mosquito population even more resistant than weakening.
